Ever heard of APEFOS 35 MM adapter for JVC cameras

Has anyone had any experience with this adapter made for JVC HD-GY series cameras? It is a new vibrating adapter being made in Brazil. It has less than a stop of light loss and has nice bokeh with no visible vignetting. Here is the link to the info page.

I own a JVC HD110 and wanted to add an adapter to it. The price is right @ $675 USD shipped. I emailed them and got this info. I found this adapter in a JVC thread on another site. Looks well built and solid.

It would be great if some experienced adapter users would check out the demo video and let us know what you think. Thanks.

excuse me, but seems like a bad idea... system becomes extremely long and i doubt it's ergonomic possibilities to work with...

unless you buy a 1/3 relay lens from letus, putting adapter on hd110 with stock lens is not really a good idea...

Hi Tomas, I know people who successfully use adapters on the JVC HD cams. Yes they are long... but if they have good support, there doesn't seem to be any problems. Teddy Bear, who is a user on this site, used the JVC Cam and adapter while sliding down a mountain on a zip cord 100 feet off the ground. I wouldn't try that myself lol, but he said his rig is solid enough to handle this. Other people have shot theatrical release features using adapters and the JVC cams. So it is already being done and seems to work out just fine.

I just wanted to see if any experienced adapter users would check out the video and give an honest assessment of what they saw. The price is very good and it is made specifically for the JVC's. The relay lens would be the best way to go, but it is to costly for me right now.

Hello tommy, I tried playing the samples but it doesn´t load.

Still, what you are saying is correct. There are many rigs hd100 + adapter. And some got very good footage (ex: Steve Duchesne, you can check some of his material on the redrock site).

But... honestly? I agree with Tomas that the rig will be very long with the Apefos, and in many situations very hard to work with.

I never held and Apefos, but it doesn´t look like it is something really special and the design is very bulky. My recomendation, if you are looking for a cheap solution adapter, I would get a second hand M2. We already know that it works with the hd100 and you can get it at a very good price. You can upgrade the cinescreen if you wanna get more light and I believe that the construction of the adapter is more solid that the Apefos.

Hope it helps!...

A.-

i'm sure it can be used...

i even saw hpx500 with stock lens and and adapter.. but oh boy... i can't imagine work with
1 meter long bazooka :)

yup Brevis with the stock Fujinon and we shot a whole short with it, and it was 140cm long, pretty pictures, one hell of a rig tho

Thanks. Yes it does help. I was considering the RR M2. Maybe I can find one at a good price.

Yes the JVC with adapter does look like a bazooka or some alien laser weapon! I think most people will be afraid to get in front of the camera lol!
