Even the A-List is hurting

The A-list will be okay provided they don't have that $1000 a day crack habit. For us it may mean Hollywood wants cheaper films and maybe some new talent can break it. But I bet Tom Cruise still gets the big bucks. LOL.

living in hollywood is much more exensive than a crack addiction.
lol
Bottom line is nobody will escape the wrath of the depression on the horizon. Things will get much worse and then things will get much better.
What will change is while companies tighten their belts through this tough period, they will not necessarily start waisting money like they use to once things start getting better. They will know they can have the same product for a fraction and they will keep doing it.

the article is too long; there's too little information in it

what is it, can we get tom cruise or julia roberts for $250,000 or what?

I wonder if they'd be willing to take their fees at the back end; I'd be willing to throw in another 10% maybe. LOL

Fellas, please, it's late; I need to find some name actors that are looking for "worthwhile" projects, for "meaningful" roles -- do you know such actors who aren't hurting for money?

I agree with most above (Adam, Nate, Zak). It will make it cheaper for indies. Grinner remember there is no such thing as a Depression or a Recession. All these words mean is that money is changing hands usually out of people's hands with lots of money into someone else's hands. I mean we have the same amount of money (gold) today as we did yesterday. There's no difference. But when Warner Bros is used to making $1 billion a year and they are suddenly making $800 million; and Julia Roberts who usually makes $20 mill a year now suddenly is making $15 mil. Then these people/companies start complaining looking for ways to get that money back - because it's what they are used to.

I see this as a prime time to make your mark and slide in on the cheaper better made movies with new ideas that will ripple Hollywood.

The one thing to remember is that A listers may be resistant to appearing in ultra low budget stuff. Example - Marvel offered Mickey Rourke $250K to be in Iron Man 2. A ridiculously low amount of money. Does that mean if i made a $350K feature I could put Mickey Rourke in it?

Not a chance.

They still need to be involved in quality projects that give them exposure and meet the technical needs they're used to. For someone making $3-5M movies this will be easy. For those making $500K or under movies, the challenges still remain - it will be almost impossible to attract A talent at that level.

Hopefully the drop in A-list prices will affect B-list and C-list and so on. So someone who would have wanted say $100K for a movie (as the lead) may be only $75K because of this or someone who was worth $50K a movie is now dow to $35K.
