Hey Guys,

Weird question how are 12 by 12/ 4 by 4 shoot through diffision panels called in europe? As we are in the metric system? And honestly I never run into those names in european sites, nor do I have ever seen them in Europe.(Im sure they are used here, but I never visited a proper set).

As I might want to invest in such materials, but if I know what the european names are for it I could widen my search a lot better.

Thanks!

Usually called Scrims or butterflies or light panels or sun swatters or knife blade frames or skylights or just 12x12 frames or 4x4 frames.

I have some made by a German company called California Sunbounce and I also have a cool snap-out frame from Calumet. Photoflex used to make a really good one, not sure if they still do. Lastolight definitely still make a good one. Lots of cheaper versions on eBay too.

In Metric countries they will most likely go by meters. If you ask for a 4 x 4 silk, you might get something that is 4 meters by 4 meters. Just something to talk about before hand.

We use imperial for both focus scales and lighting grip here in Australia (a thoroughly metric country). I'd just call up your local lighting company and ask them.
