Scotch Tape = Cellotape?

Duct Tape = ????????

What is the terminology for those two types of tape in Europe as a general thing?

In the UK, both brands (Scotch Tape and Sellotape) are available, but ‘Sellotape’ would be by far the most widely used term to describe the stuff (at least in the South-East of England). So widely used, in fact, that I’m sure there are many people who are unaware that it’s a trademark, and would spell it without capitalization. Some people also use the more generic term, ‘sticky tape’.

Duct tape is also called duct tape here, although it’s also commonly referred to as gaffer tape (even though it’s not the same as proper gaffer’s tape).

‘Insulating tape’ or ‘electrical tape’ would be used to describe the PVC stuff used to cover exposed wires.

Apparently, in Australia, Durex is a brand of sticky tape!

In Spain we name it cello tape (we just say cello) and the duct tape is commonly knbown as "Cinta Americana" (Translation: American tape).

In Germany Duct is :Panzerband (translation: Tank-Tape - yeah I know, verry German :D ) or Gaffa
Scotch is: Tesafilm (Thou Tesa is an own brand and Scotch is also aviable we even say Tesa to Scotch)
