EU: production of tungstens bulbs stops! :O

Take a read... it's google translated so I appologise any typing errors. The news paper is one of Denmarks most respected, so I take it the article is true.

I did not know this was coming... haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Now the big question...... what about bulbs for fx. Arri fresnels etc. If this is an all over decision with no exceptions, then the EU just rendered 90% of my lights useless!

From reading the article, it pertains to household / commercial space lighting - specifically the stop on import of incandescent bulbs and doesnt appear in any way related to our industry.

No need to panic, the new rule covers domestic incandesant lightbulbs, ie 100w,60w etc light fixtures. But...... it does not cover Industrial light bulbs. These are exactly the same but have stronger filaments for use in harsher envoirenments :)
Sales of such bulbs here in the UK have increased noticeably since the new law.

cheers Andy

Yep, people started hoarding them here as soon as even a whiff of this talk started in the states. If it does every look like they are really going away I'll pop out and buy a case or two.
