I was wondering why noone had brought this up, I just watched it the other night and thought the same thing. I really liked this movie. Jim Carrey plays a great part in this...again...one of those movies you forget it's him!
Kirsten Dunst was hot in this...small part but a good one. Frodo did good too.

I loved this movie as well... actually, I bought it. Twice. Bought it once and opened it before noticing I'd accidentally picked up the full frame version (gross!).
Not that I disagree that the lighting was cool, but it changed almost every scene! Either a serious case of insane indecision or else a genius beyond ordinary human comprehension.

Oh that reminds me, I don't know if you guys have heard of or seen the Director's Series by Palm Films, but they are ****ing awesome. They're compilations of music videos and short films by some amazing directors.

the movie was great, i just bought it this weekend. the acting in this movie is phenomenal! Kate Winslet is smokin in this movie too...i think cause shes crazy in it makes me like her.
those director dvds are a MUST HAVE! the gondry dvd is super cool. the documentry ive been 12 for ever is so great to watch, it really helps you understand where he is coming from. and the fact that he can illustrate the reasons he does something is amazing.

Yeah, I saw this last week and loved it. One of the most brilliant films I've seen in a long time.

Being Good Friday and all my work gave us a half day. I come home and want to watch something on television. I go through my 300 channels and not a ballgame or anything else of interest is on. I go through the on demand channels, and nothing catches my attention. I finally figure that I'm going to just lay down on the couch and want to put something on to help me get to sleep.
I had tried to watch this movie about three times in the past and never got past the first three minutes. I figured, why not put this on and go to sleep. Something was different though, I actually watched it.
This is one of the best films I've ever seen. It is smart, witty, and the twists are more fun than a M. Night film. This just rocked.
As others wrote (18mos ago) the acting is incredible. It is shot with a ton of handheld and the lighting is as basic as it comes. This movie moves beyond the technical nature of filmmaking and into a realm completely of it's own where story is key and the actors on screen are the ones responsible for delivering you the keys to the kingdowm. This is a beautiful kingdom and by far one of the best films I've ever seen.
Even if Rob Zombie had directed this I don't think it could have been any better.
