ETC Source Four Ellipsoidal for event
Will be doing a seminar for a client in Oct, and I am thinking of using a 750 source 4 in conjuction with a few Arris.

I was told to pick theses up to start -

Sand bag -

Figure I use green gel on the arris and white light on the source four while using the lens on it to soften its light let me know if I'm missing anything client wants to order this asap.

If you're using it as a backlight or pattern light - you can't beat it. I love 'em.

like shawn said though, not sure what feedback you want?

the Source Four is a hidden treasure. sure much nicer than blasting a fresnel through a homemade cookie.

Ohh excuse me guys this is a seminar event... Guy in the front of a bunch of people talking and giving advice (using 3 cameras here HVXs).

Will upload pics soon.

Here is the layout of the place, nothing has been fully decided (as far as where we will setup)
but this is the lay out and look of the place:

Looking at the pics... I feel that the best course of action for this would be to make the front of the room be used as my seating area, and the rear part hang a curtain and use it as the speaker section.

Any thoughts please feel free...

Why not rent the S4 fixtures, stands and dimmer from the hotel? Almost all hotels with meeting space have an in-house AV provider who would have S4s. You can rent them for about $20 / day each. Let them know what you're looking for. When they quote you the rate I indicated, plus an hour or two of labor, ask them for a 30% producer discount and counter with exactly that amount. They will meet your price request if you approach them professionally and express that you don't want to bring in outside resources.

I would spec a cross-key from four or six fixtures (2 or 3 each side) to cover the head table(s) and podium. For the drape line, a couple of S4 pars from the floor to give you a little shadow definition in the goods. The ceiling in this meeting room is very low, so it is unlikely that you'll have enough height to put backlight fixtures over the top of the drapeline. If you can do so, I would recommend it at least for the podium.

What Erik said. If you must buy, make sure it comes w/Edison plug NOT stage plug or else you wont' be able to plug into wall outlets. B&H sells w/Edison. Get a dimmer that can handle 1k. There's no of/off switch. Other lenses are available but 26 degrees handles most situations. An accessory gel frame might come in handy since it's kind of awkward clipping gels to the front. Of course, there are tons of patterns available for this light for background work.
