esata scratch disk

I have a quick question, on my mac pro I have two esata connections, I am currently using only one for my external hard drive that serves as my sratch disk and has all the files fcp needs like rendered files-autosave vault etc. it also holds the big footage files of course
my question is that I am getting kinda tight on space on this drive and since you cannot daisy chain esata drives what are my options? I dont want to move any files I just want to add a new esata drive for storing more footage, can I keep the original scratch disk just as it is and let fcp keep the rendered files there and just add the new drive?

some guidance please, thanks

Sure- you can move over your media though. It's easy to reconnect media in FCP. Just make sure you know where to find it so you can point the Reconnect Media dialogue to the right directory on the new hard drive.

mmm noah can you explain a little further please, I want to leave the first drive just like it is, fcp stores all the necessary files there, and just store new media on the 3rd new drive and always have both drives turned on of course so fcp can see them and I can work with new media and fcp can store rendered files to the first drive just like it does now, is this possible?
