Errr cavision rods won't mount with baseplate???

I just got my cavision rods in the mail today. Threw em on my cam and went to put the baseplate from my Davis and Sanford provista tripod onto the bottom mount of the rods and it won't go. Seems like the bolt that goes into the cam/rods bottom is too big. This bolt goes into my camera fine but on the rods it goes about 1 full turn and then gets so tight i can't get it to turn anymore, anyone else have problems mounting a tripod base to the rods base?
 
I had a bolt that was teh same size as my tripod mountin bolt. I tried that into the plate and it worked no problem. I ended up taking the biggest screwdriver i could find and just forcing the tripod mounting bolt into the cavision baseplate, i got it tight but its gonna be a pain when it comes time to take it off. I'm guessing for some reason that cavision hole was tapped jus slightly smaller than my tripod mounting bolt...
