Errr... Bugsy

How come this movie never got the attention it deserves? I've never seen it until yesterday, when I caught it on sattelite... and I must say the thing stuck in my head. So much, that I'm even starting this thread now.
I was simply surfing channels, noticed it was on (again) and decided to give it a go. I was immediately caught up in the story and watched it till the very end. That's without ever knowing who Ben Siegel was or being a fan of Beatty. Man, does he give one great performance! I kept comparing Bugsy to the recently discussed Aviator. Both men (Siegel and Hughes) were dreamers, that would sacrifice just anything for that one idea and both were quite f**ked up persons. Perhaps the most memorable scene in Levinson's film was Beatty loading one bullet into the revolver, pointing it to his head, while shouting "You can't kill me! Even I can't kill myself!" and pulling the trigger.
Everyone else was perfect in their roles and the chemistry between the leads was some of the best and truthful I've witnessed (no surprirse seeing that they married after filming  ). But what I probably liked the most was cinematography. Awww... gorgeous! I want my future films to be lit like that! The lighting was amazing and that's the last thing I would usually notice. Oh, and not to forget the score by Morricone :)

A damn good and beautiful movie. Totally underrated. See it, if you get a chance.
