Error in video capture

Drew Ott

Wish I were banned.
I am trying to capture video into vegas 6.0d from one of those consumer home movie camcorders. I am using the USB 2.0 port and everything shows up fine when I am capturing it.

However, once I stop capturing I get an error that says 'something went wrong'. When I find the file that it saved to, it appears as only audio. This is different from almost everybody else, because others' errors said that there was no audio.

Thank you to anybody who may know the solution, or to anybody who can direct me to a better place in order to find the solution.

That's what I'm gonna try but my firewire port was overheated and burnt so it now doesn't work...

Does vegas only read firewire or something, because I think I've been able to capture before, and it shows up fine in the preview window and I can hear/see it while its capturing. The clip just seems to disapear. If it keeps happening I'll post a few screenshots of the error.

Firewire is the standard means of capturing video. Many capturing problems have been posted by people trying to capture via USB. You might want to consider buying a firewire card.

vegas cannot capture with USB ...
i have a few friends that have tried it and the strange thing is it captures the clip and plays it back within the Vegas capture utility but the clip will not play (or is reconized) back in Vegas, WMV player , and so far no other player ...

I've captured with USB in vegas 4.0 before, worked great with no problems, although the quality sucked...

K I'm getting firewire. Thanks for help.

I have another question though. I already have a firewire cable, and my friend has this little adapter that you plug into a USB port and you then plug firewire into that.

It's white and small... would this work or do I need a true firewire port?
