Ergonomics, Heads and Pana Anamorphic

Fedex came by, brought my dvx along with the anamorphic adapter. Got this baby used with 63 hours on the heads. Was messing around and have couple things to ask. Well first of all i guess the part that concerns me most is a weird "clink" sound that comes from the interior when the camera is being moved down and up(tilt). Second thing is when i switch the scene file button from interlaced to progressive. Doing so there is a slight distorted image for a split second and then it continues on to black. (going from 24p to 24pa is fine). Another thing and i apologize if these questions are very newb-like, but also when i put on the Anamorphic lens how do i go about positioning it completely on axis? The lens does not screw on completely, it wobbles left to right without the pin screw. Should this be done manually by looking at the lcd? (Barry is this covered in your guide, i am considering purchasing) Alright last thing is concerning the heads. Previous user used wet lube Sony tapes for his recording, i am wondering if i professionally clean the heads will i be able to make a switch to panasonic? Though sending out the camera to be absent for two months is unacceptible. I am willing to drive to a repair shop if there is one near NC. How does this work?
Thanks for peeking in. Looking forward to replies.

Re: Ergonomics, Heads and Pana Anamorphic

1. The clunk sound is the image stabilizer. It's completely normal sound. When you turn it on, you will not hear it anymore.

2. The lens has a white cap and if you hold it up to a light you can position it to the correctly. This is all covered in Barry's manual and I suggest you buy it. Buy 2 incase you mess up one.

3. If you get your heads clean you should be fine if you want to switch tapes ( I assume, but you better wait for someone else to post about this) Where are you Barry_S :P

You can come to Wilmington and get the heads clean. There are a few places around the town that will do it.

Clunk is normal.

Delay when switching modes is normal

Anamorphic requires cover to align. Barry's manual covers this but you can search here for some of the basic info.

Wilmington you say. I am up for it ! How much you think this will run(for cleaning) Also you know the name of the stores and maybe i can call them? Update on the clicking noise, as i put in the tape the noise disappeared, i love it. I will try the white lens cap trick to properly allign the lens, many thanks guys!
Barry's guide purchased!

Re: Ergonomics, Heads and Pana Anamorphic

Well let me clarify. I assume that there are places in Wilmington that can fix it (being that it's the third largest production city in the US). I clean the heads myself. If you feel confident enough, you can try Barry_S's guide.

As far as places in Wilmington, you can try calling the Panavision house, and of the millions of camera places around. I know Joe Duncan Cameras handles all the Arri cameras in Wilmington, you can try them out.
