Equipment Shipping To Location ???

We are flying from our our studio in Cleveland to a San Diego location on the 22nd. There will be about 6 Pelican cases and some additional equipment - a total of about 10 cases. We can take the cases as luggage (and pay additional shipping charges) but we do have the option of shipping the cases before the shoot (for example, UPS second day).

Can anyone suggest any other shipping options?

Thanks!

Take what you need only. If you can get more gear in bigger cases to eliminate a few and stay under the wieght limits do that. But stay with your gear. Ground shipping is very unreliable. The extra costs are made up with piece of mind, and knowing you will not have to rent lights or a monitor because you are waiting for your gear to arrive with Joey and his big truck.

FedEx 3-Day is great because they guarantee delivery. I've never had any issues with UPS, but they don't guarantee delivery date.

Be certain to insure each case individually - FedEx covers most multiple case shipments on one waybill. You need to inform your broker that each must be covered as an individual item with different values attached.

We've been shipping our EZFX package with remote head to and from Dallas for TLC for roughly $258 with $10k insurance. This includes boxes and packing materials around our road cases and soft cases.

It seems to me that shipping via FedEx or some other similar alternative would be "safest". You can package everything, how you want to. You get to have the insurance, etc.

Personally, I have heard a lot more horror stories, of luggage and equipment being damaged in flight, or by careless baggage handlers. And, of course, even stolen.

You can also mark fragile on your stuff, if that might help when shipping.
The best would just be to buy seats for all your equipment on the plane, but that obviously ain't happening.

My personal opinion, is that I would have a little more piece of mind shipping something through a reliable channel, then I would having to check what I can not carry on the plane with me.
