Equipment list

Hi, I'm compiling a list of equipment and prices for my producer. Just wanted to post it on here, Let me know if anyone thinks I messed up on any of the prices, and/or if anyone know's where I can get any of the equipment cheaper. I'm just starting out and trying to build a kit that I'll be able to improve on over time.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on different equipment that might better suit my needs, feel free to let me know. I'll be doing mostly short/feature length dramas, etc.

P.S. The items marked with a "*" are items that i've already purchased.

Thanks,
Patrick McEnaney

For audio, I'm just going by the lists that are on one of the sticky's in the Audio thread... I don't know much about microphones, etc. and haven't started to shop around yet. So I'm just putting this as a basis to start from...

It consists of: Oktava MK012 w/ Hyper Cardiod Cap ($180), Rode NTG1 Shotgun Mic ($250), Windscreen ($50), High Wind Screen ($50), Sambra Shockmount ($50), Gitzo 10' Boompole ($120). Total Cost: $700

Again. I don't know much about the microphone end of things, so this is just a starting point for me to shop around for. But any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

And yes, I've already purchased my HVX a while back. It wasn't exactly $6000, but after a 4gb P2 card, etc. It was somewhere in the area of $6000

I'd just like to thank anyone that has already posted to this thread. It's good to see that everyone on here is so willing to help people out on this forum. Which is probably why I'm on here everyday reading posts from other people :) I'd like to hear what you guys think of the list of equipment I've put together so far, and if any of you think there is anything I'm missing, dont need or if you think there is a better product than what I have listed on there that might better suit my needs. Any and all comments are appreciated, thanks.

I personally wouldn't get the Sambra shockmount. It's pretty fragile, hard to exchange mics and isn't camera mountable if you need it. Had one, didn't really like it and it broke within a few months. My recommendation goes to the Rode SM3 shockmount, which is the same price. Much more versatile for the money.

I'd maybe add another p2 to your list?

I just bought a 503hdv, and I'm loving it, but for you, having all this gear on the Libec LS38 wont be great, I'd think to move up to a Libec LS55. I've never used it, but just from what I've heard on the forums, if you've got rails, mattebox, redrock, lens, followfocus, monitor, its going to be a lot for the LS38 to handle. I'd check out the official tripod faq and just read through it, just to see peoples comments about the different setups.
