equipment horror stories

Any horror stories of HVX's being stepped on by elephants ect? Ill start off with this one.

Somebody on set thought it would be brilliant to put a full cup of coffee as a marker for an actor. The actor then accidently punted the cup all over me and the HVX rig. Instead of apologizing about it he complained about his shirt. Check out the screen grab you have to look closely but it was a high shutter so you can see the coffee.

hah he didnt hit it he punted it. Camera was actually fine most of it hit me. I should also mention the it was made up about a minute before it hit me so that wasnt to fun either.

While im at it ill add another one. No pic just a story. We had an Arri 1k up on a c stand that wasn't fully secured (wasnt my fault) and it was on for about an hour and the grip started lowering it from its position (about 16 feet) And it slipped off and since it was 5 am I forgot we had production insurance and my DP senses tingled so I caught the light with no gloves.

Yeah, I blacklisted myself. I just had it repaired and sent back less than a week ago. A local technician was unable to do the job.

If that's the worst thing that happens, after working in video production since 1987, I'll consider myself lucky. :)

Today my brother tipped over the HVX200 and firestore /mattebox rig. LCD Gone. Firestore seems to be functional but geardear cage / mattebox rails holder is decimated.

Looks like he's going to be working for free for a while.

We broke our follow focus a few days ago and its been a pain pulling focus while dollying and panning at the same time.
