Re: Equipment Carts
The Element is the coolest production truck you can get! It's massive inside, especially when you take the seats totally out, although you don't have to 'cause you can flip them up out of the way. And the floor is level and flat from front to back, including when you have the tailgate folded down. And if it gets dirty or muddy or whatever, you can just wipe it off, no fretting over getting your precious upholstery all scuffed... and it's got front & rear power outlets, so you can run battery chargers and cell phone chargers and inverters all over the place. The huge side doors let you get anything and everything in there. And with the DVD player/TFT screen thing hooked up, I can use it as a remote viewing station, plugging the DVX into the TFT and the audio straight into the 270-watt stereo system.
Plus it's got all sorts of hooks and latches inside so you can bungee gear down or ratchet-strap it in...
Lots of people hate how it looks, and Honda really missed the market with it -- they aimed it at 19-year-old surfer types, but I rarely see anyone under 40 driving one.
Get the manual transmission and it's downright sprightly, and it's not bad on gas -- I get about 25mpg with it, which I doubt anyone's going to get out of a cargo van or something like that. And you can get it with all-wheel-drive too...
A friend of mine came to one of my shoots at the Honda dealership on a Friday night, he didn't know I had one (mine's orange also, which is the most outrageous color), he took one look at it and declared "that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life." So I showed him why I bought it, demonstrated the features... He was impressed, but wouldn't shut up about how ugly it was.
Monday morning he calls me and says "guess where I am." Yep, sitting in the dealership signing papers for a 2004 AWD Element. I said "what color?" And of course he says "orange." ;D
