I have it. It makes great prints on DVD. I am however taking it in tomorrow as the alignment is screwed already and its not even a month old. I've hardly used it. I might have just got a dud though we'll see. But smokin' results for DVD printing!
I'm using Ridata discs from a local place here, not sure where you'd get them out your way. I'm guessing a simple google search would find you plenty to choose from if someone else can't point you to them.
I print every single DVXuser Filter test DVD on it.. it works very well. I dont align it, I just shove the damn tray in till its past the first rollers and it seems to align itself automatically.
Pretty happy, just wish Niagra system would come out for it as it goes through cartridges like mad.
I use a Mitsui disk that is "archive quality" and more expensive. Lovely, slightly shimmery disk face. great canvas for a DVD print. You can easily get cheaper, white face inkjet printable.
If you buy the better DVDs. Charge your clients for it. Make sure they know there is a difference. Its all of a $1.50 difference between sketch DVDs and truly good ones. That's about the price of a giant box of Junior Mints, big woop!

Just so you know...the Epson R200 is the same as the R300. It just doesn't have the slots for the media card readers. Same mechanism though. If you don't need the card reader, the R200 is only $99 with a $10 rebate at CompUSA.
I use it, and have neither alignment problems nor excessive ink use... Jarred, they're solid black, right? That's lots 'o ink!
I've printed a few hundred CDs and DVDs so far, and find I use a lot less ink than I did printing labels... nothing's wasted in "bleed" since it aligns so reliably. And the ability to replace colors seperately has saved us lots over all-in-one cartridges... we go heavy on red, for some reason...
We use Taiyo Yuden discs for their long-term reliablility. We use both silver and white. White is pretty matte, but allows incredible detail. Silver CDs are beautiful, with nice color. Silver DVDs, for some reason, have a very different surface, so colors are a bit muddier and "cut outs" are kind of blurry. You definitely have to design differently for silver, but when it works, it's a very nice and "unique" look.

Thanks again Pookiehead! You have helped me so much! I am going to buy the R200 since I don't need the card reader/display. I will check with David on the media...Thanks again!
Picked up the R200 yesterday. Haven't hooked it up yet.. $89. Much better than that darn $300+ I paid for the crappy EZCDPrint Plus a couple of years back (albeit, a hack job on a Epson 820). I got some good use out of it, but it pretty much stunk with regards to mechanics...
yeah.. the Canon i900 prints nice CD's as well and the cartridges are alot cheaper and/or easier to refill and they have no cartridge chips, but you gotta import it.
I have the r300 too and its work beautifully. I didnt even know it takes media cards. I use it as the work horse in the office to print DVDs and CDs. Had it about 3 months and its printed at least 1000 disks already. I wish my signature pro worked though, I could set 50 to print and leave. The R300 I have to sit there and watch.
Have any of you tried printing to discs that have a printable area all the way to the hub? And if so what your settings to get the printer in that close? I've heard the default is set to your standard disc printable area (w/o the hub) I've got a bunch of Ritek that have the white surface that goes all the way to the center and would like to utilize it.
