Epson p-3000 media player compression issues...

repixel media

So I bought this thing to use mainly for still picture transfer (which it's fantastic for), but I also was hoping to be able to use it to showcase some videos shot with my HVX... seen here:

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/...f=r0302EFb3T&gclid=CKbFq8WT-IwCFQGPWAodb1ZPCw

I got movies onto it, in various forms (mpeg, m4v, qt) using the supplied transfer software... And the picture is generally very nice. The problem is that there seems to be a "pulse" in the video when viewed on the unit.. like it artifacts up roughly at the rate of a standing pulse... I tried different compression settings, changing keyframe rate, etc, but still get the same thing...

I know it's capable of showing very smooth video, because the sample video on the unit is amazing. It's also an .avi

Even thought it says it supports all those other formats, is it possible that it's only going to play avi's smoothly? i should hope not...

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks
Cody

My first instinct when you say pulsing on a portable media player is to check if it handles 23.976 correctly, or if it plays back funny on a 3:2 pulldown on 29.976.

Chances are you need it at 23.976 with no pulldown.
