i get better every day :)
but this ain't a starting point, i've worked in ae for a while now. and this ain't basic, especially not for a kid like me (17 years old, filming with my brother only), and if you compare to other non budget vfx work from regular guys like me this just can't be basic.

but since your a cinematographer, maybe you ment the cinematography was basic? well, i can tell you that this is only a test for vfx, did not think one second about cinematographic stuff. just went out and filmed in acouple of hours, so that i could have something to do the rest of that day and night.

Muzzle flashes and music is only part of a good shootout ;) Angles, editing, framing, and lighting all add to the emotional feel of a scene, often in ways much more basic and subconscious than flashy effects and explosions can.

Once you've nailed the FX (and it looks like you did, pretty well), its even more fun to try to nail the camerawork.

Yep. Even with VFX I would dedicate some time to getting the right coverage, and composing your shots for the end result, because hey, if it's not on screen, the VFX's don't matter!
