EOS Lighting, LLC - Stay away!

I ordered a 12 x 24 chroma key green screen from EOS Lighting (part of a larger order totaling $1,700) and they said it was not in stock and would take two weeks to ship. I was not in a hurry so said the wait would be okay. It ended up taking MONTHS for the screen to arrive. By the time I received it I no longer needed it so put it on a shelf in my office.
Being the forgiving type, a few months later I placed another order for some grey, black and white 12 x 24 cloth backdrops some lighting and other items totaling more than $1,200. I placed this order AFTER calling to confirm what was in stock, which (they said) was everything except the white 12 x 24 backdrop. I told them I didn't mind waiting for the white backdrop, and placed the order. That was Nov. 12, 2009. I was supposed to receive an email containing shipping information within a day or so of placing the order. On Nov. 16, when I had not received any shipping info I sent an email asking the status and was told to be patient.
On Nov. 20 I sent another email asking about the shipping status of my order. They just ignored that email. By Nov. 30 I had decided that if the order had not yet shipped I would cancel it and order the items elsewhere. I had my assistant call and she was transferred to a man who was supposed to be in charge of shipping. She asked why items that were supposed to be in stock on Nov. 12 had not yet shipped, and he tried to place the blame on us, as if we controlled their shipping. Then he said it was shipping that day and would arrive by Thursday, Dec. 3. I ordered the items for an event occurring at 9:00 am on Dec. 4, so this would BARELY be acceptable so she took him at his word on the arrival date.
After FINALLY receiving some shipping information, I checked the shipping details on Dec. 1 and discovered that the items were not scheduled to arrive until DEC. 4TH. I tried calling EOS Lighting, LLC. but no one answered the phone, so I sent an email detailing my frustration. I explained that the LEAST that they could have done was provide expedited shipping for an order that was neglected for such a long time, despite the two status check emails sent. I also said that lying about the arrival date merely to keep me from cancelling the order was underhanded at best.
I received a call from the same girl that I talked to the day of the order. She was no help, simply suggesting that I use the green screen from the previous order.
I decided later that evening that my only prospect was to use the chroma key backdrop, so I opened the package and unfolded the 12 x 24 green screen. The chroma key screen looked like a bad pair of panty hose, with thread pulls throughout the face of the fabric, and some strange black dots that I suspect are mold.
EOS Lighting, LLC. SUCKS. Their operation is unprofessional and their products are substandard. There are FAR too many companies that sell photography and video lighting equipment to risk dealing with EOS Lighting. My advice would be to buy from ANYONE ELSE than EOS Lighting.
I have since discovered that the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau has 16 (SIXTEEN) complaints about EOS Lighting, LLC. for similar reasons, AND that they changed names from Pacific Coast Lighting Systems which has 11 complaints on the Wisconsin BBB website.

B&h

B&h

The film school I just graduated from ordered all their stuff from B&H Photo Video. They usually have really good deals, and if they don't have the BEST deal, it's worth it for the reliability.

I ordered some DVI to Firewire cables from them with just standard UPS ground shipping and they arrived in two days.

i dont get it... with so many frauds and problems, why do people even bother ordering elsewhere than known and reliable shops?

Good rule of thumb, always check the business name and email if hesitant. I usually just google it, but there is also a website to check if they're a reliable company. Let me look for it.

Not all indys are unreliable. CoolLights is awesome - you get BETTER than what you expected. Same goes for Cinevate, Redrock , indy-dolly and others.

Not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing that Cinevate isn't listed there :-)

Regardless, Robert thanks for that. We're constantly working on ensuring our customers know how important they are to us.

Cheers,
Dennis.

I bought the same green screen and it's slowly falling apart. That was the first time I didn't go to B&H and now I know why to stick with B&H every time. lol

i disagree about redrock, i've been dealing with their nonexistent support guy(email only, no calls accepted) about replacing a knob on my mounting plate and rather than selling me the part they are forcing me to buy the entire mounting plate again. i've dealt with sachtler in the past and they've had no problem supplying me with individual parts. i'm throough supporting redrock if they can't help a customer in the slightest way, i hate the feeling of someone deliberately ripping me off.

Ok, I was looking for some lighting and found a nice looking light kit from PC Lighting. I didn't find any bad reviews so I called them and spoke to a very nice and knowledgeable sales rep Lisa Ann. After a few calls I decided on the Dayflo Pro 3500 light kit. After the order was placed I received my invoice with EOS Lighting on it. Then I found the reviews on EOS/PC Lighting. So I then called back and spoke to another guy who said they had a D- from BBB and it should be an F, so I was nervous to say the least. But kept the order anyway. With in a week I had my light kit and backdrops. One light had some small damage so I called the service guy and he said no problem and sent a new light out the same day. There were a few other small things that were wrong but they have had NO problem taking care of them. So Lisa Ann did a great job getting me the kit that fit my needs, and the service guy has been wonderfull to deal with. Over all a GREAT experience! The lights are GREAT and I would, and have recommended these lights and company to friends! Really glad I gave them my business!

Wow you registered JUST to give a glowing review on a dead thread?

Dollars to donuts, I'm guessing the Cubs have a better chance of winning this year, than you not working for EOS.

Bottom line, doesn't the name give them away? An online store that mainly sells video gear named after a still camera line. Seems fishy to me. It is like "Professional iPhone HD Video Lights".

Well when I read a reveiw that dogs out a company that I have had no problem with I feel they deserve a good post as well. I joined after finding the bad review, because I didn't know about the site before!

Most scamming companies also get a transaction right every once in awhile. Unless they're getting 99% right consistently, and taking care of the ones they don't get right in a timely manner, they don't deserve good praise.
