entire audio on computer cuts out when editing?!?!

this has been going on for a long time. just randomly at times when Im editing, I notice there is no sound. Not only in the editor, but anywhere on my computer. Volume is turned all the way up, and I get nothing. I have to reboot my computer to get sound back. Any idea what the hell this might be??

I have Sigmatel audio, with a bunch of Legacy audio drivers in the system hardware

I know that audio is lost if you have any fire wire or external player...make sure it is unplugged and it should work
 
I know what you're talking about. I just upgraded a graphics card to deal with CS3 and now if I'm listening to a CD, file, anything, it clips and skips if PP is doing something intensive.

Haven't figured out a solution but I sure will be trying.
 
well for starters make sure that you have all the latest drivers downloaded and installed.

Did this start after adding a particular piece of hardware?
