enhancing wave reflections

Hi there.
Beautiful underwater reflections are something my camera does not really bring to life.
Has any body had success in bringing this out in post.
To be clear i'm talking about wave reflections, not objects reflecting on water.
I messed around wiht shadow/highlight in Afer Effects and "glow" effect with little success. thanks.

circular polarizer? no, I tried to keeping the lens against the tank to avoid background reflections (obviously not in that clip).

Anybody? I gues the plan is to key out the slight luminance variations in order to boost them.
Had sume luck with levels (and a luminance mask) but it looks unnatural.

Yea thanks but i want to enhance the reflections that are already in the footage instead of creating them.

Forgive me if this is wrong, but how much pop do you want?

What *exactly* are you wanting the reflections to do?

Like what you did there but even more so. Was that a levels adjust? 3-dimensional psychedelic shimmering, like looking at the bottom of a pool sort of. Maybe its asking too much from of a camera..thanks.

A single correction of levels alone won't get you there.

The changes I made were quick and easy using only 3 way colour correctors and a couple of shape masks over the top (blue) and bottom (green) on the fish for additional corrections. Took less than a minute.

I'm sure with some messing around you could do more.

The wave reflections in the background are so subtle in terms of colour differences that it would take a little longer to isolate and enhance them.

Actually, what you did was good enough thanks. So, you masked the fish twice (top & bottom) and used the 3-way to bring out blue highlights in top mask / green highlights in bottom mask? I'm not too familiar with masks.

Yes, that's pretty much it, though you will need to animate / track the masks to follow the fish too.

Don't try to get the entire area you want to effect within the mask, instead make the mask a little smaller and feather it so that there are no sharp edges.
