Hey guys!
I was just wondering if you guys could lend a hand in a little experiment for my final project this year at university. I'd really appreciated and you'll get full credit of any clips you submit.
Take a watch of this (its only 12 seconds)
What I'd like you to do:
Is to film with whatever camera in whatever settings you choose, a clip (as long or short as you like) featuring a distinctive line or junction entering and exiting the frame, as you can see in some of the examples above.
It can be absolutely anything. I just shot stuff around the house as an example. And you can have loads of stuff going on in the clip or something really simple. Its really open ended!
If you can keep the camera as steady as possible when shooting that would be great (just makes my life a little easier)
If you could upload them onto https://www.wetransfer.com/ and send them to mattdreyer739@hotmail.com that would be amazing!
If you want to be credited at all drop in a name and a link
My intentions:
I'm looking at structure in film narrative, and how a conventional film tells you a story in a very precise way; the directors vision for example. I'm going to try and bring choice into it by making a "film map", where the audience can navigate through in they're own direction.
At the moment the narrative is purely visual based (the lines made from the objects being filmed), but I was hoping getting some "user generated content" could provide a nice spark and some really interesting varied narratives could hopefully emerge.
If I manage to get enough footage, I'm gonna piece it all together and hopefully do some cool things. Whatever I do, I'm gonna keep you all posted and if you have any idea's I'd love to hear them.
Thanks for reading this and a even bigger thanks to anyone who gets involved. I'd really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Matt
