End of an Era

I'm not a big video game guy but Midway games was the Chicago video game company that bought us Mortal Combat and Spy Hunter, (a game I loved from my youth). I have friends that loved Midway and one who game tested there was so much of and was so close to the Midway guys he's a hidden character in one of their hockey games, so this is somewhat odd to see happen, even though it doesn't effect me directly. Here's a full article about what's going on.

"The Midway logo goes to its final resting place as employees pack up, clean house and make the move to their new home at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. As seen on Twitter. R.I.P." -Michael McWhertor

I had initially thought this was going to be about how the DVX is dead (figuratively speaking) due to the technology we have now. lol

They were doing a new Mortal Kombat, I don't know if that will happen. The original was awesome and then somehow they did part 2 and totally dropped the ball. The TV series was better than part 2. But honestly, I always did wonder why there was no Spy Hunter movie. That would've been an easy one to write. A Michael Bay film for sure. I'd check it out for old times sake.

In some ways that era never ended. The HCM150 and HCM40 pretty much takes over from where the DV100 left off. But somehow I ended up falling into Canon land. I really like their products. Now that I can convert to AIC via Toast, I'd take either one. I like the work flow, drop the clip into Toast, name it, fix the settings and you can have a perfect clip that you can drop right into FCP with no rendering. I could see myself with an HCM150 or HCM40. I'll admit I've had some issues with SD cards that are kind of scary, but I could see working with an SD card workflow and have always like the idea way more than the P2 cards. JVC's HM100 still has the best workflow for Mac users though. Gets a great image and the lowlight on that thing is wild.
A traveling Faire is coming to town...

...and this time it's *personal*.
Has Will Ferrell comedy written all over it. LOL.

Video games and my father taking me to the arcade was a HUGE part of my life. It was the only thing we enjoyed doing together pre-motorcycle. Sucks they went under. I spent a lot of money with Midway.

As did I (See Spy Hunter and MK comments). And it was cool knowing they were here in Chicago and in America and that all the "good games" didn't just come out of Japan. I'm still curious about MK versus DC. Who the heck can win against Superman in that thing, he should be a boss or something. LOL.
