Emerson Film Program

I saw in another post that there was a user (Digitally Pleasing) who had graduated from Emerson. I was tempted to hijack that thread but resisted and started my own. I'm wondering what everyone knows or has heard about emersons film program because yesterday I recieved notification that I have been accepted. It is probably my top choice and when I visited I really liked it, just wondering what everyone else thinks of it.

I just visited emerson on thursday and am also applying (but haven't been accepted yet). I really like the program as well. It seems very good.

Well first off, a congrats are in order! I remember getting my "CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO NYU" letter and it was pretty exciting. Of course now, I just want to get the hell OUT of there. But that's another thread...

I've heard pretty excellent things about Emerson, about their school as a whole. They have an fantastic reputation. But, I would probably go and do a GOOGLE search to find some more articles about school rankings to get a better idea of their film program.

I just stopped by to say CONGRATS!

Emerson refused to even send me an application. 1490 SATs, good grades, hard classes, 5s on AP test all over the place and they didn't want me. Oh well....

Anyhow, my friend goes there and seems to like it. They have a weird artsy culture that some like, some don't, but that's outside of their film program. Apparently they do good technical stuff, but the students are incredibly--and irritatingly--competitive with each other, to the point of the ridiculous. However, they do very good work (incredibly good from what I hear) placing you in the industry, so unlike me, you'll have a job when you graduate.

Obviously visit first, but it seems to me like a really good place for film production. I kind of wish I went there now instead of where I did, but whatever--no guarantees I'd be any happier, right?

Dude, a school can't 'refuse' to send you an application. Hell, you can download one from the Emerson website or even apply online.

Anyway, I've heard good things about Emerson and even briefly considered it when I was applying to undergrad school. My impression was that they had a very good TV Broadcasting program. I ended up going to Hampshire College in Western MA--they have a good film program but it's tad on the experimental side.

Thanks for all the advice and input. I luckily have alot of time till I have to make my final decision and I'm sure I'll visit again and do some more research before then.
