I just received the micron bridge plate and a few dovetails. I have to say, very cool stuff. I have a Oconner 1030D tripod head and the dovetail slides right into it with no additional plate. So far I have mounted the micron baseplate on a variety of DSLR's, a c300, and a F3. In order to get the correct 15mm rod height for the F3, a shim is needed. They are releasing an official one but it is not out yet. I used the oconner universal baseplate in conjunction with the micron baseplate to remedy this. For those of you who don't know, having a dovetail receiver(micron bridge plate) living on the camera allows you to change quickly between many different setups. For example, I have a micron dovetail on my tripod head, one on my camera cart, and one on the jib or steadicam. With the baseplate that lives on the camera, I can just slide the camera on or off any of these without changing anything. The micron is a new smaller dovetail, it looks like a shrunk-down arri dovetail and is perfect for todays lighter camera setups. Although, as you'll see if you look through the micron baseplate pictures in the link above, it can hold a fully rigged f55 also, so its definitely solid. The build quality is great, just wanted to share my thoughts on this new product with the community….. Jake W.
