Electric Adaptor in India

I'm shooting a doc in India next month in 720p with my HVX. I'll need to power my MacBookPro and HVX battery charger (hard drive runs off USB 2.0 bus power). What electrical adapter will I need to use these electrical components? Or do I need a transformer instead of an adapter?

The HVX AC adapters accepts 110-220V AC, 50-60Hz, so for this you only need a plug adapter that matches the local outlet.

I'm not a Mac guy, but I would think the MacBookPro is the same way. Check the label on the AC adapter.

Aha. It was so small I couldn't see it initially. Yeah, it says it accepts up to 240V. The same goes for my battery charger. I just need to figure out which adapter plug to get...shouldn't be too hard.

I saw that they have different plugs depending on where you are in India. Who would've guessed that India could be chaotic? I'll get a multi-adapter kit certainly.

I seem to take one step forward and two steps back. Reading on the pandora website it says...

"Why can only “electric” appliances be used with a converter, and not “electronic” ones ?
The difference between a converter and a transformer lies in how the device converts voltage current. Alternating current power is supplied in alternating bursts that are in a shape called a "sine wave". To reduce 230 V to 120 V, for example, a converter chops off the sine waves in half, whereas a transformer alters the amplitude of the waves. This is a critical difference because electronic devices require a full sine wave for operation. This is why they can only operate with a transformer. Electric appliances function with either a full or a half sine wave, so they can be used with either a converter or a transformer."

According to this it sounds like I do need a transformer to power the MacBookPro because without it I won't have full sine waves. Am I wrong?

No worries, the AC adapter for the HVX (and apparently the Mac as well) can accept a range of input voltages and frequencies. As long as the input is within the permissible range, the AC adapter will output DC current suitable for the HVX/ Mac.

The warning you saw would apply if you had a TV or DVD player without a separate multi-input AC adapter.
