El topo in PAL

I'd like to buy my dad El topo on dvd

there are two versions i can get

In Spanish w/ subs which he would prefer, BUT PAL region 0

In an Eglish dub and possibly some optical censoring


So my question is will a PAL region 0 dvd work on my dads NTSC machine? I thought region 0 was region 0, i didnt know PAL or NTSC came into it, i thought thats what region 1 or 2 meant.

I don't know the answer to your specific question, but I did recently discover that the X-Box is able to play PAL DVDs. I don't know if that is something unique to the X-Box or if all modern DVD drives can handle both.


Edited to add new information:

I just found this website http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/umdvdfaq/ which is a FAQ about DVD and it discusses regions and all that stuff. Maybe it will help.

No. But you can buy a region-free dvd player off of ebay for 60 bucks or less.
