EK100G3's output. Unbalanced or balanced?

Hi,

Could anybody check whether EK100 has a balanced audio output? I need to hook it up to Sound Devices 552 and am not sure how I should solder a cable. I myself don't have the receiver and brochures at Senns web site aren't helpful on this matter.

The G2 & G3 EK100 portable receivers are unbalanced.
1/8" TRS Tip to XLR pin-2;
1/8" Shield to XLR Pin-1.
XLR Pin-3 is tied to Pin-1 (shield/ground).
The 1/8" TRS 'Ring' terminal is floated. (not connected)
Obviously, Phantom Pwr. should not be applied to the input channel.

The EK 100 is unbalanced - the EK 500 and EK 2000 are balanced.

The set comes with an output cable to XLR wired correctly.

If you make your own, make sure you use a locking mini-jack on the receiver to avoid crackles due to the plug moving.

Obviously, Phantom Pwr. should not be applied to the input channel.

If in doubt, put a blocking capacitor in the XLR to stop any phantom getting to the receiver.
