Eizo ColorEdge lcd monitor for CC ??

hi. i've been looking for a native HD monitor for decent (enough) colorcorrection etc using vegas on a PC. searched here as best i could and found many posts talking up the $1800 matrox mxo apple combo, but only scetchy talk about PC options, mostly about the only option being the $3500 panasonic bt-lh2600 (not even full HD) 'broadcast quality' monitor...
well i was wondering why nobody was talking about the eizo coloredge range, in particular the $2350 cg241w. It seems to be what the photo editing world use for exact colour display, and was wondering what the difference is between them and the video world. - what this couldnt do / colours it would miss-represent, compared with the lower and higher priced options above and more importantly why that would be.

thanks for any help giveable.

I've used Eizo and they are nice, but even in the photo worlds they are not excat color. Thats just not possible right now with an LCD display. I'm guessing if your using Vegas you're not doing high end color correction or grading, so nearly any monitor will do, just get a Spyder2 and it'll adjust your RGB values to get you as close as an LCD can get to true color. Personally I'd get the Sceptre at @ 380.00 and the Spyder 2 suite for 100.00 and you're ready to rock in HD.

im using vegas to edit and im using vegas right now for cc, however, in the future with a reliable monitor, where i can see what im actually doing i may move to something more powerful for final cc (but still on pc and probably never highend). I know lcd are rubbish, i wouldnt ordinarily buy one but space is a real constraint for me (as is heat production, working in a small stuffy sound room) so a crt monitor (production or otherwise) is out of the question unfortunately. The spyder or something similar is on my shopping list regardless of the monitor.

- the $380 monitor is a strange suggestion? i know lcd are rubbish, so i cant get a 'true' one no matter what the price, but there are other categories surely, such as- 'as good as it gets' (panasonic?) 'close enough' (eizo colouredge?) 'ok' (acd/mxo?) and 'rubbish' (?). what category would you put this Sceptre in? (can you tell im sceptical about the sceptre :cheesy:)
i use genelec 8040 for my sound monitoring, and i know that my manipulation of audio files on them will give me an audio file that will sound good on any other speaker- i would of guessed the same applied with a monitor:- get something as accurate as you can and most importantly as reliable as you can then the image you see and work to will be within the bounds of the various set ups other people will subject your image to, whether it be some incompetent projectionist, an old washed out crt or a muddy colour bleeding lcd.
– so to restate, im looking for reliability and something in the ‘close enough’ (or way under $3k) category. And in terms of help im mostly looking for someone to say either yes the coloredge range of eizo would work great or no that monitor is rubbish for video, should only be used for photo, because of blabla colorspace etcetc... very sceptical on the 'nearly any monitor will do' once spyder2ed opinion. though very greatful for your reply.
