Effects shot question

Hey guys. I'm a bit stumped by a shot I'm trying to get for a product promo.

Basically, the product is sitting in a bedroom with blowing curtains, and it is behind said curtains which are semi-transparent and white. The client wants to add a green glow around the outline of the object which will travel with the object as an actor steps in and walks out carrying the product. I know I can track the product itself, and add a glow to that, even if I have to do it manually, but what about the glow's interaction with the transparent curtain material? It feels like if I just add the glow in post, it will rest on top of the curtains rather than behind them.

My current thought is to lock the camera down (it's a static shot) and shoot a clean pass with actor + product without curtains, then do another pass that is just the curtains by themselves. To make matters more complicated, the curtains are being blown by wind. If I try to composite the two passes together with the glow being added underneath, am I creating more problems for myself?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions...

I would try similar things as you mentioned. If the only thing that's change is the curtain blowing in the wind and everything else stays the same then it should match up fine in post.
