Hey, I know it's kind of a noob question, but I'm new to video editing and such, and I keep seeing these vids with the effects synched up with the bass line in the audio, is this done manually or is there a tool? I'm using Vegas 6
Well the answer is probably that this can't be done in Vegas.
With a default Vegas installation, the answer is no. There was some discussion on the Sony Media Software Sony Vegas forum about new blue FX or something like that... but I don't believe their plug-ins can take audio info and use that info on video keyframes.
There is an easy way...t was said earlier.
Just play back your track and place markers at each bass beat.
Then just overlap your video tracks to the markers. It really is very easy.
BTW, there isn't a magic program to video editing.
Editing is an art and a skill, although there are tools that make your job easier to do, it still is no substitute for your imagination and the skill of the edit.
Depending how complex you want your video to be, it can be as tedious or simple a process to edit.
BTW, there is a plugin for Vegas from VASST called UltimateS, that can make your edits simpler to do. It has several scripts designed for Vegas for montages, multi cam, audio sweetening, film effects and more.
