Hi all,
I am making a short film with out giving any importance to lighting.I just take the cam and shoot .sometimes i even get glare and over exposed light in windows and door openings. Its a film about what i have been doing the past 2 years where ever i go with a small story line and i am shooting myself keeping the cam in right hand and moving.so i cant avoid such glares.

Am shooting in mini dv.i wanna know what are the effects of over exposed lights appearing in the frame while projected on big screen. Will it look same as i see in Tv or will it be more bad.

thanks

I just shot an early morning flashback scene - needed to be very bright to contrast with the scene it is inserted into - and much of the white room registers 106 on the waveform while my subject retains proper exposure. Blow the background or drown it in black, as long as your subject is properly exposed and required elements are appropriately exposed, you will be fine.

Side note: a random blown window or doorway can be very distracting to the overall image. While the blown white may not look any "worse" on the big screen, you need to remember to create pleasing images and compositions. That large white area will need to be balanced to not detract from what you are actually trying to show. Put a white door in the corner of a dark frame and that's where attention will go. Put a darker/properly exposed subject on an all white background and the eyes will be on your subject.
