Edius to PS3

I have it. Yes I have it!! the PS3 is in the house and it plays HD.

I will use the to play HD content from the HVX200. But how do I get the films in all their glory into the PS3 from Edius.
The best way to get the PS3 to read the filmfile is by encoding it with Quicktime Pro (it demands h.264, main profile 3+, AAC audio, QT-header!)

The DVCProHD codec doesn´t help in QT.
Uncompressed are waaaayyyyy too big.

When I export with the Procoder Wizard and High Definition it offers
MPEG-2 - didn´t work. QT won´t open it.
WM - you can imagine QT won´t ope it
and then HDV formats, QT won´t open those either.

So what do I make to get it into Qt as a HD file?

**EDIT: I got the HDV file into AfterEffects, then changfed its settings to HDTV1080 and export the h.264QT-mov now. That should open in QT and I can then rewrite it as mp4. I keep you guys updated. But it would be nice to output the mov straight from Edius.

The "Edius Tutorials" sticky at the top of the forum has one I created on how to encode QT with H.264...

I tried that, but had bad compression artifacts. need to redo it.

but i at the same time I made an output to quicktime-motionJPEG-A and then in QT-Pro made it to h.264 and that worked.

Today I will try that h.264 output again out of Edius. I might have to set the keyframes to "1" to have better motion.

I don´t mind about compression. I just want a way to show the stuff easiest. With the PS3 you can put the file on a SD card (9,90 for 1GB) and play HD on any TV or HDscreen.

Ok. It works.
But I do take a different approach than THoff. I don´t choose Quicktime Movie as export and then h.264, but I go straight to MP4 export in the top rider.
then Video -> h.264, 15000kbps (!!!) and keyframes every 10 frames.
Audio -> AAC, 44.1

With these settings I have a good picture and hardly artifacts. I probably have to set keyframes to 1, because in dissolves it still shows nasty artifacts.

EDIT: Of course so far I only did "fast" encoding. I might next ry keyframes every 50 frames, but Best Encoding. Takes 100 looks at the footage though.....crazy. Let´s see how that works....

The 100 passes are just an estimate, there is no way for Procoder to tell how many QuickTime will actually need for multi-pass (High Quality) encoding. I've never seen it take more than seven.

Remember that the more keyframes you have, the less bits are available for the remaining frames.

Making every frame a keyframe is essentially an I-frame-only file, which negates the temporal compression efficiency.

Dissolves are full-frame changes and will generally always include artifacts except in the case of good variable-bitrate encoding where there's enough bits available to compensate.

It's all about finding a balance.
