Hi. I have just installed the Edius 5 demo on my laptop, I have problems with HDV capture, it stops after about 5 seconds with "destination drive is to slow" warning. The project preset is.
Generic OHCI HD 50Hz 1440x1080 50i 48Khz 2 Ch
Capture setting is.
Generic HDV input Canopus HQ 1440x1080 50i. Yes I am in PAL land.
My drive speeds are.
Read 38MB/S
Write 36MB/S
Laptop
Pentium 4 3.2, 1gig ram 256 graphics, external firewire HDD.
I captured a few of these 5 second clips and played with them on the timeline. No problems whatsoever, P in P, Title and transition sequence all play back fine in realtime.
I then changed the capture setting to Mpeg, lo and behold 20 minutes captured. But when I put these clips on the timeline the computer crawled to a virtual standstill. I can use Prem CS3 and Vegas 8 on this laptop with no problems at all.
Am I missing something in the settings?? Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.
