Editing with linked clips

Can you create "J" and "L" cuts without unlinking/ungrouping the video from the audio?

For example, let's say I wanted to shorten an audio clip but keep the video clip the length it is... is there any way to do this without ungrouping them? I've been doing it by ungrouping the clips and was wondering if there was an alternate way just to speed things up.

I can't think of one offhand. Js and Ls are one of the reasons ungrouping is possible.

Yeah.. Premiere has this nifty little feature where you can hold alt while dragging and it will only affect what you are dragging... not the other things linked to it...

Just wondering if there was something like that in Vegas. Not a big deal.
