Editing station for $1500

I read a bunch more and talked to my gaming enthusiast and IT wiz buddy who gave me a "wow wow wow dude... slow down!"

2.966 is super stable aparently so I'll shoot for that and be happy and worry-free

also I will over-do the air cooling and get a fan contoler with a few temperature sensors to spread around the case, and get a clock with temperature redings by my desk for ambient temperature...

lso I upgraded to a serious and overclocker-junkie prooven power supply unit

6.0GHz it seems

it's alive! and current CPU temp is occilating from 26 to 28 degrees!!! nice! with the fan occilating between 700 and 900 rpm!
I still might go just under 6ghz for 100% worry free setup

5.8ghz it seems

posted two pictures in the Vegas section...

so far so GREAT!

so far so GREAT!

Ok, many things changed on the package, and there is some really interesting stuff to report that happened overnight. I mean overnight as I was up overclocking all night! :)

First,
_same board the DS3 from Gigabyte
_same chip E6300 from Intel

those two are the reason for building this thing

then:
_ Corsair DDR2 800 2GB
_ 500GB perpendicular 7200.10
_ 320GB same HDD
_ crazy CPU heatsink & fan
_ DVD burner
_ dual 22" Dells
_ Antec nine-hundred case
_ Antec true power 650W PSU
_ external 500GB usb 2.0 HDD

$2100 is closer to total cost... but that's because of the monitors and HDDs mostly

anyway, to the good part... I read and read, then I read some more... when I was done I read a bit more and then I started overclocking last night at about 10pm...
I was up to 2.3ghz at say 1am and all without touching the voltage!!! when I bumped into more info on the www! so I read, and I re-read, then I read a bit more... at about 5am I was testing stability on the very same E6300 processor that came in a little baby-blue box... only this little baby-blue baby became a current breathing RENDER MONSTER!

this is preliminary, but all the info I found points to this as a stable overclock, and it already passed 2 hours of a blend of CPU and RAM torture test by Prime95 with no errors and no warnings... ready?

3.15ghz!!! in one night!

3.325GHz 1.45v to the CPU and with 5-5-5-15 timings, CUP peak temperature is 56 celsius under CPU intensive ORTHOS... seems stable!!!

I run Vegas so why not stick with the 5-5-5-15 for the extra 0.175Ghz (more like 0.35+)
