Editing/Rendering Anamorphic video?

I have just ordered a Panasonic Anamorphic lens for my DVX100 with the intention of producing SD widescreen video. I have two questions about editing and rendering such "squeezed" video in the Vegas 8 system.

1. What "preference" settings do I use to be able to view the video unsqueezed in the preview monitor so I can edit better?

2. And can the Vegas system generate/render an unsqueezed, widescreen final .avi file? What settings?

I'm new to the anamorphic concept, so please forgive my ignorance. Thanks in advance.

1) You must go into each clip, right-click, choose Properties, then change the pixel aspect ratio to 1.2121.

2) Just render using a DV (24p if necessary) Widescreen template. Any computer player will (should) show it at the correct aspect ratio. Or, render as 873x480 with a pixel aspect ratio of 1.000.

But what's your intended purpose for it? That'll make the difference as to exactly how you choose to render, and if you even want .avi at all.

Thank you VERY much. That was the part of the equation that was elluding me. The widescreen test render came out exactly as I wanted.
