Editing Question

I am in the process of editing a project using final cut express 2. The film starts with the audio of a phone conversation and no video.

Right now, I have a black screen during the audio playback.

Can anyone tell me how to add a white line across the black screen that moves up and down in conjuction with the audio levels increasing and decreasing?

I don't know if I'm phrasing this question right, but I think someone with knowledge may get the jist of what I am asking.

I appreciate any responses.

What you are looking for is a waveform plugin. When I want to do this I use After Effects. Has a great plugin for what you are looking for.

Nothing in FCP that I've seen.

If you've got AE it's under RENDER -- Audio Waveform. You can adjust from there.

Don't know how much you might want to do, but if you send me the audio I could make an Alpha of it and send it back. All I'd need is an mp3 of it.

I'm out of town until Friday.
