Editing over the net

A friend and I are going to try and edit a project together over the net. I'm going to capture the footage, send it to him low res over the net and were going to trade Project files back and forth. Would this work? Is there something else we should be doing?

ALSO

Can anyone offer help on how to import an EXCEL EDL into FCP? I want to write all the shots in EXCEL and then import it to FCP and automatically capture it all from the tape. Is Excel the best prog to do this or is there another one that I don't know about? Or is it just easier to use the FCP program itself.

I wouldnt like it much, quality is important to me, a low rez version wouldnt do me any good. you can use www.hamachi.cc to fool your computer into a LAN over the internet, it might suit you better for what your doing, and you can transfer full rez video.

thanks for the info dudes. Yeah Im going to transfer low res footage. Then when its all editied Im going to res up for the final product.
