Editing on a retina disple

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but it seemed to be the place where I'd get the best educated answers. I'm basically looking at getting a macbook pro 15 with retina display for editing on. A lot of the time when I edit I'm on the move and don't have access to my external monitor so would have to do it all one the one screen. This can get frustrating currently because we I'm doing corrections such as sharpening I'm having to zoom into the footage.

I'm basically wondering if it's possible to do corrections such as sharpening to footage on a retina display using a 100% 1080p clip placed inthe corner? I hope that makes sense. Just to cclarify a bit I've seen one of the selling points of the retina display being that you can have the display in an editing program at 100%and still have access to all the controls etc. I'm wondering if this display is sharp and big enough to make adjustments such as sharpening without having to zoom in.

Thanks

I bought the exact same MBP... you will be fine! with a resolution of 2880x1800 you can view your 1080p video in 100% scale and it just takes up a little more than half the width and height. Sharpening works quite well. I once did some testing with it, CC'ed and sharpened my footage on the MBP and then went over to my Mac Pro and watched it on a 24" 1080p screen - seemed fairly accurate and the results weren't sharpened to much on the bigger screen.
