Editing on a 92 inch screen...

As I am preparing to start planning for my home theater that will be down in my basement. I wanted to know if I could hook my G5 up to the projector and have FCP projected up on the screen. The guy in the home theater store told me I could do it. I need to find out if I would need a specific cable like one of those HDMI or HD cables to connect to the projector. Right now, this is just an idea or thought. I like having my editing equipment completely in another room where it is now but like I said it did come across my mind. I want to also use my home theater as a screening room as well so who knows...

just check inputs on back of projector and check it out, my buddy had a home theatre and we would hook up xbox and such to it...it was incredible

Should be possible. Most projectors have a monitor input (D-sub at least on most).

However, most projectors are also lower resolution than most monitors, so try and get one with decent res.

Yeah you can do it. depending on the quality of the projector the results can be stagering.

I want one of these toys so badly.

It seems the high end cc work is being done using high quality digi-projectors.

You can definitely do it. I have an older Infocus X1 projector. The res is pretty low compared to a computer monitor, but it still rocks! Seeing my footage on an eight foot wide screen is pretty amazing. Warning, your home theater will dull your enthusiam to go to the movies. It's nothing like a private showing in your own home. I don't know why more people don't go this route. For the price of a big lcd set, you could have a killer projector set up.
