Hi all, I'm new to this forum which looks like a great forum from what I've seen so far. I'm just starting on a workflow for a documentary project that I am working on and I wanted to get this right so hopefully I won't run into any problems later. I plan on logging and capturing everything in OfflineRT to edit with and thus will need to re-capture at hi-rez at some point later. This is my first documentary project as well as my first dealing with dealing with footage with differing frame rates. The source material that I am dealing with comes from various cameras. The source material contains standard NTSC 29.97fps (drop frame), 24p and a bit of 24pa footage which is both non-drop.
My questions are:
1) Does it matter how I capture the (offline RT) footage? Using drop frame or non-drop frame?
2) Does it then matter how I edit? What type sequence should I use? 29.97? Drop frame or non-drop? (I'm hoping that this may be picked up for broadcast, so am I right to believe that I need to hand it off to broadcasters as a drop frame master so that the master will relate to "realtime"? Can I use both drop and non-drop footage in the same sequence? Will the "sequence-time" and "realtime" be caused to drift if I am mixing both drop and non-drop?
3) Does mixing both drop and non-drop in the sequence (whether it should be drop or non-drop) affect the ins and outs of the selected clips and therefore affect my edits for when I need to re-capture at hi-rez?
I hope this is clear and please excuse my ignorance on any of these issues. I tried searching for an answer, but wasn't exactly clear on what I should do.
