I imported some Nikon D7000 files right into FCP straight from the card last night and when I loaded each clip into the browser they played back fine on my computer screen and on my external monitor. Since I used my Zoom H4N to record clean audio, I ran all the clips through Pluraleyes to sync the audio. After the clips were synced, I went back and tried to play the clips. The video was a still frame on screen but the audio played back fine. The video played back flawless on my external monitor. My sequence settings was Apple ProRes 422 720p/29.97. I am wondering if I should have used HDV 720p/30 since that is what I have it set to in camera at the moment. Also I had to render my clip after going through Pluraleyes and once rendered, playback was fine again on computer and on external.
So could the frozen screen be an issue of wrong sequence settings for the clips or perhaps should I have converted all the clips to Apple ProRes 422 before importing into FCP7?
I got it to work but I don't think I should have had to do any rendering and I need to figure out why I needed to do that and I need to figure out why the video kept freezing up on me during playback giving me a still frame until I stopped the playhead then the image would change.
