Editing newbie- Should I start with FCP Express?

I am a new filmmaker. I know nothing about editing. Will getting 'FCP Express' be an easier way to gradually step up to FCP or should i just go right to FCP and deal with learning it?

The main appeal of FCE is you get some of the power of FCP from a budget application. The interface is identical, main difference is a lot less formats you can work with and of course you get none of the other applications from Final Cut Studio. If you can afford to purchase FCS- go for it. Way more bang for the buck than FCE.

If you can afford Studio, as stated above, get it. It is amazing and you will not regret it.

Forgot to mention, if you want to edit in 24 frames at all, Express cannot do that.

I went through the same thing over the last couple of years. I wish i could of afforded the Studio way back when. It is very similiar. If for some reason you end up with FCE get Tom Wolskys FCE book. It is very good !
