Editing Monitor?

I want to get a monitor for $400 and under, preferably larger than 22 inches, for editing in Final Cut Pro.

I have a Macbook Pro 17" but the monitor is super dark, and I have a bunch of dead pixels.

Any suggestions? Links? Comparisons?
I'm looking for the best bargain for size and quality. Bigger, better, and cheaper.
 
dell makes decent/cheap LCDs for computer monitors, samsungs are good too. check out dell.com and newegg.com.
 
Far above your price range is where it hold up. Anyways, they are stylish but you will get a much better value plus more useful ports with another brand. Search through all of the monitors on amazon and look at the reviews. That's what I did and it helps a lot. Specs don't man much.
