Editing in Premiere, 24p-ing in Vegas

Call me crazy but I tend to like the editing style in Adobe Premiere better than Vegas, but of course I'd like to preserve the 24PA I shot the video in. I've read somewhere that this can be done between the two programs, where I can make my cuts in premiere then export to a file then import to vegas then export for a final 24P copy.

Is it possible? What kind of special settings should I use in Premiere and Vegas?

Thank you

-JL

Vegas 7 and Premiere Pro 2 have very similiar export settings, but Vegas allows you to export files with regular 2:3 pulldown, while Premiere seems to only allow 2:3:3:2 advanced pulldown. So you can export from Premiere and maintain your original 24 frames, and you can export 24p for DVD. But for exporting 24p to tape, Vegas will yield the smoother motion of 2:3 pulldown. If you're exporting for the web, Premiere stinks. For web I use a dedicated compressor, Sorenson Squeeze. Maybe tell us what versions of each program you're using, and what you're final output will be.

Thanks for the reply

I'm working with Adobe Premiere Pro, not 2.0 though. I've got Sony Vegas 7.0... I hope to output to both DVD and web.

You SHOULD be able to export from Premiere as NTSC DV to tape -- which will result in the insertion of 2:3 pulldown, but it won't have pulldown FLAGS -- so you won't be able to remove the pulldown automatically later. In effect, unless you want to remove it manually, you won't be able to edit it in 24p again. It will be 60i.

Think of it as the same as a 24 fps movie on VHS.
