Hello, I am new here. Someone can help me how can I use HDV images (from HVR-V1U) with some imagens from a minidvd handycan (sony DVD403) in Adobe HDV project.
I capture images from minidvds using a external PInacle movie box or using a bitripper. In both case the images from minidvd are smaller than the images from hdv and Adobe put black pillar in both side of dvd images. I think is about resolution problem, I am not sure. HDV is 1440x1080 and I don´t know what is the resolution of minidvd´s image. There is any way to scale minidvd images in Adobe.

By the way, I tried a trial version of VEgas, from Sony, and in this case I could images of diferents formats (hdv(mpeg), dv(avi) and mini(mpeg) in the same project it looked work well. And Vegas, diferent from Adobe, can import vob files directly from minidvd. In Adobe it was necessary to capture before.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Your HDV project will be a 1440x1080 at a pixel aspect of 1.333, same as the HDV from the V1U, but significantly different than the MPEG stream from the miniDVDs from the Sony camera. Those are SD (smaller) and use a different compression as well (and a different aspect, too).

If you up rez those smaller resolution images to an HDV project, they will degrade pretty badly. Unless you need an HD project, I would down size the HDV to and SD project Wide screen to to an SD project.

That should look terrific.

Thank Mike, In fact I need a DVD project becase at the and I have to create a DVD to as customer. So your ideia is good, but I think, I am not suer, that the resolution of my handycan minidvd is smaller than a SD images, because even when I put together imagens DV formats with DVD images I have yhe same problem: dvd's images litle bit smaller than DV images.

But I will try tu folloow your suggetion and gonna do a SD project. In this case how can I keep of HDV images because whaen I put HDV imagens in a SD project I loss some pieces of images in the saides of picture.

Thanks.

Click on the footage and there will be a menu that pops up in the top part of the screen. There's two tabs, Opacity and Motion. Open up Motion and there is a Scale setting. Sale it down to about 45% and it should fit in an SD timeline.

About one of the footage being smaller I've ran into problems before where if I try to capture with a USB cable thefootage will come out very small. In fact I've never figured out how to capture from one of those cameras at all.
