Editing GH1 footage with CS5

I plan on buying CS5 in a week or two, but have a few newbie questions.

1) Is there any reason why Premiere is not good for editing GH1 footage?

2) Can I put the AVCHD clips directly on the timeline or do I have to convert them in any way?

3) Will I be able to edit the AVCHD clips in After Effects, Photo Shop etc then inport back to the Premeire program without any problems?

4) Is there anything I need to avoid in the editing process to avoid degrading the HD footage?

Thanks

there shouldn't be an issue with it otherwise download the trial and try it out before you buy.

None that I know of - the DSLR support in CS5 is really good. If you can upload a sample clip, I'll drop it in and see how it does.

PPro works native - you just drop it on the timeline and start editing. Make sure you have a computer strong enough to handle the format.

You should be able to work with AVCHD in AE, but as for Photoshop I'm not sure how deep the format support is if your talking about using Photoshop's video support. If you're talking about using Photoshop images with an AVCHD timeline, you shouldn't have any issues.

None of that I can think of - what format do you plan to output to?

I have CS5 Premiere, and it appears that it does handled AVCHD. However, because I have an older Intel Mac, and perhaps a bit less ram, AVCHD playhing still has artifacting while playing... however when the clip stops it cleans up, and I've not seen the clip completely halt, or totally screw up as was the case with the 'updated' CS4 Premiere.

Since I've not gotten my After Effects updated, I don't know about the transfering back and forth... I didn't do too much of that when I was at CS4 Premiere anyway...

Right click on the clip in the Program panel and choose Playback Resolution and change it from 1/2 to Full.

Anyone know if CS5 is properly interpreting the GH1's 24P, or if it still requires pulldown removal using Cineform or something beforehand?

@Indyreel

It's not, but there is a cineform neoscene v5 beta out... has anyone tried it yet. I just downloaded it but I won't know if it works for hours...
