Editing:for those w/LCDs, playback monitor/tv recommendation$?

I just ordered a new Dell computer and I finally took the leap and got a well-reviewed LCD with it too.

Aside from the LCD I want a monitor/TV obviously to check color, brightness, etc etc. I am broke so I can't spend much (say $400-500 MAX) which I am thinking probably takes away the professional studio monitor option real quick.

So I am thinking of just getting a TV with lots of good inputs. The best TV for the task at the cheapest price. That would do the trick right? I am not looking for something I can also take out in the field btw.

Does anyone else do it this way? Any recommendations? Anything I should watch out for other than a couple sets of inputs (Svid, RCA, maybe Comp too!)?

Thanks everyone!

You know, sometimes you can actually find used color production monitors for pretty cheap. Just last week someone was selling a 19'' JVC monitor with component input etc etc for 300 bucks. If you cant find a good one there, I suggest just looking around in ads for well priced TV's that are the right size. Sometimes another option is getting a pro monitor that doesnt have all the blue gun, underscan etc etc. JVC has some good monitors that are inexpensive....

Thanks PDX DVX

I have a bit of time anyhow until I can afford to buy some more equipment so I will be watching for pro monitors deals in the meantime. If nothing comes along, TVs here I come!

Thanks Larry! You know I just made a short list of TVs at BB last weekend and that was one of em! Looked good for the price, for sure.

Send me an update after you spend some time with it, or who knows, maybe I will get one myself this weekend!

Actually, I just bought a JVC monitor off of ebay for $275. It's the JVC TM-910SU. The 9" one. Check ebay. You might be able to find a good deal. Just make sure there are no burn-ins on the screen.
